Our Struggles Are Connected. Our Power is Collective.
Addressing the Division and Hostility in our Nation:
We are at a pivotal moment. Rising polarization is deepening the cracks in our society and entrenching us further in death-making systems: war, racism, economic inequality, environmental destruction, and the targeting of innocent life. This mass destruction of human beings from chemical warfare, racist policies, nuclear weapons, and the profit-seeking industries is no longer a potential threat. It is real.
This is an appeal to change-makers, peace groups, life advocates, faith leaders, and justice advocates, who believe our issues are interconnected, and want to choose another path: to weave a garment of justice that embraces us all.
An Urgent Appeal to Unity
We, the undersigned, believe that a society indifferent to violence, whether through war, nuclear weapons, racism, or the destruction of innocent life, undermines the dignity of all people.
On the intertwined anniversaries of Roe v. Wade and the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons going into effect, we are coming together for a Day of Horror and Hope: to mourn the lives lost institutionalized violence, and the devaluation of human life in all its forms and to stand united for a future built on justice, peace, and nonviolence.
By endorsing, we affirm the need:
To respond to the urgent necessity to rise above our differences to defend human dignity
To challenge the horror of institutional violence that profits from the vulnerable
To cultivate hope that our collective actions can dismantle these systems of death
We commit to participating in, supporting, or promoting this Day of Action, working towards a culture where every human life is cherished, and no one is expendable.

Together, We Are Stronger
With our appeal to unity as the spark, we will build momentum under the banner: Our Struggles Connected: Unite for Peace and Life, which culminates on January 22nd, marking both the anniversaries of Roe v. Wade and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons going into effect.
Every fight for justice, from racial equity, a world without war, respecting life, and climate action, relies on the collective power of people. By uniting our voices, resources, and energy, we can bring about meaningful change that benefits all our communities.
-
Through digital storytelling, on-the-ground actions, and public witnesses, we will challenge the systems of violence that separate us and call our movements to radical unity.
-
This campaign will strengthen a network of individuals and groups, culminating in a day of action on the intertwined anniversaries of Roe v. Wade and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons coming into effect.
-
This is an opportunity to invest in that unity and create a much-needed chance to be part of a generational shift toward peace, justice, and life.
Why do we need the Horror and Hope National Day of Action?
What we are asking is not easy:
We acknowledge that within the diverse anti-violence movements, the challenges we face can test our resolve and our ability to come together as one. We invite that vulnerability of discomfort because that is where true growth and understanding emerge. Through it all, one truth remains: our struggles are not separate but connected.
