An Urgent Appeal to Unity

We, the undersigned, believe that a society indifferent to violence, whether through war, nuclear weapons, racism, or the destruction of innocent life, undermines the dignity of all people.

On the intertwined anniversaries of Roe v. Wade and the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons going into effect, we are coming together for a Day of Horror and Hope: to mourn the lives lost to institutionalized violence and the devaluation of human life in all its forms; and to stand united for a future built on justice, peace, and nonviolence.

By endorsing, we affirm the need:

  • To respond to the urgent necessity to rise above our differences to defend human dignity

  • To challenge the horror of institutional violence that profits from the vulnerable

  • To cultivate the hope that our collective actions can dismantle these systems of death

We commit to participating in, supporting, or promoting this Day of Action, working towards a culture where every human life is cherished, and no one is expendable.

What we are asking is not easy:

We acknowledge that within the diverse anti-violence movements, the challenges we face can test our resolve and our ability to come together as one. We invite that vulnerability of discomfort because that is where true growth and understanding emerge. Through it all, one truth remains: our struggles are not separate but connected.
